How Vairi's matching works

The interview runs about 10 questions: how you handle conflict, your energy level, and what's going on in your life right now, say a recent move or a career change. Vairi reads those answers and sends one match. Not a list to scroll through. Founder members can open an introduction with something specific to do together, a co-watch room for a film or a shared Spotify queue, instead of an empty chat box and "hey." Vairi learns from your feedback and from the conversations that work, so matches get sharper the more you use it. Vairi introduces members across the UK, most of them in London; people elsewhere can join the waitlist for their city.

Privacy and safety by default

You need a verified email to get matched. Vairi doesn't check photos or ID beyond that. Every message runs through an automatic filter before it sends, and three flagged messages suspend an account. Chat logs from a closed match get deleted after 90 days, and you can delete your own account and data whenever you want. More detail is on the Safety & Reporting page and in the Privacy Policy.

Reveals happen on your terms

Either person can ask to reveal names and photos, but it only happens if both agree. One person asking doesn't commit the other to anything. Vairi's members vote on new features directly, so the roadmap comes from people actually using the app rather than a closed product team. A digital third space is an online place that is neither home nor work, where people meet the same faces often enough that friendship forms on its own — the internet equivalent of a corner cafe or a regular pub quiz. Sociologists call the offline version a "third place", and most cities have fewer of them than they used to. Vairi is not a dating app and it isn't LinkedIn either. No follower count, no like button, no feed to perform for, just the one or two people who get what you're into on a Sunday morning, or what you're actually going through right now.

How the matching actually works before you see a photo

An AI concierge asks how you handle conflict, what your week looks like, and, if you opt in, a set of OCEAN personality questions. That builds a profile of how you think and talk, not a list of hobbies. Matching weighs that against your current life chapter, whether you just moved, changed careers, or started over, and filters by region so a match is someone you could meet for coffee, not someone three time zones away. Vairi sends one match at a time. Not a queue, not a grid of options.

What is Vairi?

Vairi is a private, AI-powered friendship matching platform: a digital third space between dating apps and social media. It interviews you, matches you on life stage and conversational fit, and introduces you to one person at a time, anonymously first.

How does the AI matching actually work?

You answer a roughly 10-question interview about how you handle conflict, your energy level, and what is going on in your life right now. Vairi reads those answers, filters by country, and sends one intentional match at a time, not a list to scroll through. In the UK your first introduction comes after you join, then new introductions arrive every Tuesday at 7:30pm. You each see a short introduction first, and the chat opens only once you both say yes, so nobody can message you unless you want to talk.

Is Vairi anonymous?

Yes. Vairi is anonymous-first. Your name, photo, and exact location stay hidden until both people agree to reveal them. One person asking does not commit the other to anything.

How is this different from dating apps?

Vairi is built for platonic friendship, not romance. There is no feed, no swipe deck, no public profiles, and no follower counts: one matched introduction at a time, with a shared activity to do together.

How much does Vairi cost?

Joining, introductions and chatting with your introductions are free. Founder membership adds unlimited conversation with Vairi about your matches (free members get 10 messages a week) and lets you start shared activities like co-watching, playlists and games. It costs £3.99 a month, £9.99 for 3 months or £19.99 a year, and the first 7 days are free.

Where is Vairi available?

Vairi makes one-to-one introductions between members in the United Kingdom, most of them in London. Anyone can join from elsewhere and go on the waitlist for their city, which opens once enough people there have joined. Vairi Nights, small online evenings of four to six people, are open to members across Europe.

Is my data safe?

Every account needs a verified email before it can be matched. Chat logs from a closed match are deleted after 90 days, you can delete your own data at any time, and Vairi never sells your data.
